EEEK! Welcome to my world of busy and the fact that I thought I posted this in 2021. Imagine my surprise I was preparing my 2021-2022 favorites lists (also super behind schedule) to discover this one never went public.
Here it is…
Over a year-let’s be honest, nearly two years- late
ALL books listed definitely still make me happy. I sometimes have the urge to revisit the Little House books with the kids. The boys love to reread The Wild Robot, The One and Only Ivan, and Harry Potter. Those were our comfort blanket books, and I will always remember them fondly. I’ll make sure to post this past school year’s favorites in the next few weeks.
Pinky swear.
(Imagine me saying this in 2021…) I did something a few days ago that I’ve never done before (and I’m so glad that I did it). I took the time to go through our Homeschool Reading Log, pulled all the books from our shelves that we read this past school year, and took this photo (also, WOW! my kids have changed and grown A LOT since I took this photo)…
And that’s just the titles we still own!
We read over THIRTY ONE chapter books together. I think back about the beginning of our homeschool journey and the fact that we most definitely would not have accomplished reading that stack of books two or even three years ago, and it makes me extremely proud.
Many of our favorites are saved here, in my Amazon storefront. After I publish this, I’m going to make sure it’s up to date with all of our favorites in one spot. Without further ado, here is our list in it’s entirety:
Biographies and/or Who Was? Books
Who Was? books were new to us this year. I want to say we started with What Was the Titanic? and then ventured into Who Was Stan Lee? and soon, my kiddos were hooked. For the most part, I let them choose the topics and people we read about each week. Typically we’d complete one Who Was? book in about a week’s time. The last three titles on our biography list are longer books and took us longer than the typical two weeks.
Who Was Laura Ingalls Wilder?
What Was the Titanic?
Who Was Dr. Seuss?
Who Is J.K. Rowling?
Who Was Walt Disney?
Who Was Davy Crockett?
Who Is Stan Lee?
What is The Constitution?
Who Was Daniel Boone?
What is Nintendo?
What Was the San Francisco Earthquake?

Laura Ingalls Wilder by Janet & Geoff Benge
Davy Crockett by Janet & Geoff Benge
Harry Potter Books
When your mom is obsessed with Harry Potter, you can bet that you’ll be reading the books and watching the movies perhaps way before anyone else your own age. Fortunately my kids love this magical world and wait in anticipation each year for an owl to arrive with their letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry. I’m still waiting for mine to show up…
A few years ago, my oldest received this boxed set.
