We’ve been counting down the days to Christmas everyday with our kids this season. They are so excited by all the fun activities, the bright holiday lights that glitter our neighborhood houses in the evenings, and our own Christmas decorations in the house. Each day, I try to have some sort of a fun activity for my two oldest to do after their naps. Sometimes we color a Christmas picture, or make a handmade ornament, but today with the help of Honey Maid and Skippy found at Walmart #PBandG, we made some cute {and delicious} graham cracker houses. #CollectiveBias
To make your own graham cracker houses, you’ll need:
Honey Maid graham crackers
Skippy Peanut Butter
hot glue/glue gun
sharp knife
colorful candies {any variety}
In my local Walmart, both the Honey Maid grahams and the Skippy peanut butter were found on the same aisle, in this case the “cookie” aisle.
For stability purposes, I used hot glue to construct the houses. Each house required 6 sheets of Honey Maid graham crackers. Four sheets stay rectangular, and two get cut for the ends of the house.
If you lay the graham cracker flat and use a sawing motion with your knife, it shouldn’t break! With a little patience and lots of hot glue, you’ll have a strong structure for little hands to attach their candies.
Before the boys woke up to create their graham cracker houses, I put some Skippy peanut butter in a zip top baggie, down towards one bottom corner. Then I snipped the corner of the bag, creating a DIY piping bag. It worked like a charm!
I also put all the red, white, and green candies out in small paper cups, so once the boys woke up, we were ready to decorate!
They had a ball decorating {and of course sneaking their fair share of candy as well}.
The Skippy peanut butter was fantastic and kept everything perfectly in it’s place while we constructed our houses.
Since I didn’t use all of our Honey Maid and Skippy for the houses, I used some of the leftover graham cracker pieces that may have broken in the building process to make some delicious Chocolate Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Skippy peanut butter {creamy}
- 2 T softened butter
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup Honey Maid graham cracker crumbs
- mini pretzels or holiday shaped pretzels if you can find them
- 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate morsels, melted
Instructions
- In a mixer, combine Skippy peanut butter and softened butter until blended well.
- Stir in both sugars and the Honey Maid graham cracker crumbs.
- Make small peanut butter and pretzel sandwiches and lay flat on a sheet of parchment paper.
- Once all "sandwiches" are assembled, melt the semi sweet chocolate morsels and dip one side of the peanut butter bites in.
- Lay flat on parchment paper to dry. You could place them on a cookie sheet in the refrigerator as well to quicken the process.
- Makes about 30 bites!
And let me tell you, these will disappear! They are delicious and would make a great hostess gift for the next party or dinner you attend. For $.50 off when you buy one Honey Maid Grahams (12.2 oz or larger), click here {offer good while supplies last}.

Graham cracker houses seem like such a great alternative to a gingerbread house. I love that you used peanut butter as your “glue”!

What a fantastic idea, Meredith! Great idea using the glue gun…. why mess around with royal icing when glue is so much more serious about its job?!?

We made a graham cracker house a few weeks ago using Skippy and it’s still together and looking great!

Your houses turned out great! Marley ends up eating half the “decorations” so our houses look a bit bare 😉
