I was provided with materials to create this project by my friends at the Ribbon Retreat. As always I only work with companies that I adore and ALL opinions are 100% my own!
In case you missed it last week over at the Ribbon Retreat Blog, I’m thrilled to share a “Ribbon-rific” project with all of you today, perfect for St. Patty’s Day, but it could also be customized for any time of the year. With the beautiful selection of different ribbons from The Ribbon Retreat, you’re sure to find a couple of styles, patterns, and colors that you’ll adore.
For this round of bookmark creating, I decided to go with some festive St. Patrick’s Day inspired ribbons and added some beautiful feathers and embellishments that I had in my growing craft stash.
To make each bookmark, I measured out about 10 inches of the ribbons I’d use. Since I knew I wanted to layer a couple on top of one another on each bookmark, I just cut lots of pieces and began to match them up.
The assembly process is a piece of cake. Simply tie off one end and trim either at an angle or two angles. Make sure to burn the edges with lighter to avoid fraying.
Next, you’ll need to hot glue the ribbons to each other using a small strip of glue. Be careful as you press the ribbons together, hot glue is HOT people! I also made sure to use a lighter on the other end of the bookmark to avoid that pesky fraying that can occur.
Once each ribbon was set, I arranged some pretty green and hot pink feathers at the bottom and topped them off with some pretty beads.
They are perfect for all the many books I seem to start at once but can never find the time to actually get around to reading!
Enjoy!
