I know, I know. I sound like Paula Dean with a title like that. Seriously though.
Butter is GOOD.
You know you love it.
I love it even more when it’s Land O’ Lakes butter. It’s definitely been my butter-o-choice since I was a little girl. That tends to happen when it’s the only brand your mother ever bought! I plan to raise my kids on it too, you know, that and other foods of course.
With Thanksgiving right around the corner and Christmas surrounding us everywhere we turn, I got to thinking about one of my most favorite parts of the ever so delicious meals we are all about to consume with family and friends.
Yes, I love turkey and mashed potatoes, and plenty of cookies and desserts, but I’m also a HUGE fan of delicious, homemade dinner rolls. And what goes on those dinner rolls?
Yep.
BUTTER.
But not just any butter y’all {ooh, there’s my inner Miss Paula again}. You’ve got to have Land O’Lakes butter for all your holiday buttering needs.
I decided this year to take a chance and fancy up my Land O’ Lakes a bit. The process was SO simple and the outcome…butter perfection.
This is actually called “compound butter” because it is a mixture of butter and supplementary ingredients. For my first attempt at compound butter making, I decided on two recipes, one sweet and one more savory.
Honey Parsley Butter will require 1 stick of softened Land O’ Lakes butter, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1/2 teaspoon of chopped parsley. Use a spoon or sturdy spatula to mix and fold the ingredients into the butter. Once you feel that it’s mixed enough, plop {yes, plop} all the butter onto a sheet of parchment paper and roll it into a log.
Refrigerate for at least an hour before serving, giving some time for the flavors to meld.
The second compound butter I made was a Roasted Garlic & Chive Butter. You’ll need to roast about 4 cloves of garlic first. I did this by placing the garlic cloves in a glass baking dish for 25 minutes at 375. {It makes your house smell amazing}. Once the garlic was roasted, I let it cool for a few minutes and then chopped it as finely as I could. I added the chopped garlic and about 1 teaspoon of freshly chopped chives to the stick of butter. Form into a log on parchment paper and refrigerate for at least an hour.
Let me tell ya, both of these recipes were GOOOO-OOOD {say that it your best Cousin Eddy voice Christmas Vacation movie buffs}. I will definitely be making these recipes again, and probably coming up with more concoctions in the near future.
