Are you ever in need of an easy, yet personal gift for friends or family? I know I am. It’s SO nice to be able to break out my Cricut Explore Air 2 and actually make a gift for those occasions. I don’t know about you, but when I’m surprised with a personalized gift, no matter how small it may be, it can honestly make my day. This Mother’s Day I’ve decided to surprise some important moms in my life with a sweet, simply monogrammed ring dish with the help of my trusty Cricut and their amazing vinyl colors.
To make a ring dish, you’ll need:
Cricut Explore Air™ machine | Cricut Vinyl | 12×12 LightGrip Cutting Mat |
Melamine Plastic or Ceramic Shallow Dish | Cricut Transfer Tape
I began playing around in Cricut Design Space™ with a few different fonts that I thought would look good as a classic monogram. DaFont.com is GREAT resource for all the fonts you could ever want in your life! I love to look at it occasionally to find new fonts to use in projects or just when I’m typing a document for school. I’ve always been a font lover…kind of an odd thing…I know!
I ended up going with the font called Chloe for the center of the monogram and Favorite Fonts Collection-A is for Alice for the left and right sides of the monogram. I knew my dishes were approximately 3.5″ in diameter, so I sized each monogram accordingly, to about 1.5 x 2″ each. Since I wanted to keep each ring dish classic and neutral, I chose a few different shades for the Cricut Vinyl Metallic Sampler. I LOVE all of the tones in this set. Seriously, each one is gorgeous, and {in my opinion} super neutral. The colors included in the sampler are silver, platinum, gold, bronze, ocean, and blush.
Once each monogram was cut, I weeded the excess vinyl off and used transfer tape to apply each monogram to it’s respective dish. The transfer tape was awesome for this project as it kept everything lined up exactly as I wanted it to look.
Soon I had a few gorgeous ring dishes to share with our grandmas this Mother’s Day, and I totally made one for myself as well.
What is your favorite thing to monogram? Now that I’ve got a cute monogram all set up, I’m ready to monogram all the things!

Hi – where did you purchase the ring dish?

Hi!
Did you use plastic or ceramic? I can’t seem to find a good deal on Amazon for the ceramic ones, and I wanted to know if the plastic still look as nice. I want to give these as a party favor.
Thanks!
Brittany

I used plastic! And I think they work great and still look nice.

Where did you get your fonts? I love both of the ones you used in the ring dish.

Usually I just use DA Font and download ones that jump out at me.
