I received products for the purposes of review from my friends at MindWare, a company I adore and trust. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
Stumped as to what to get your little thinkers for Christmas this year? Don’t want anymore “junk” under the Christmas tree?! Well, Santa let me in on an AMAZING secret this year {at least it was a secret to me until a few months ago}. This homeschooling mama has discovered MindWare.com: Educational Toys for Kids, and my life has been forever changed!
You see, I get it. Kids watch TV {yes, they do…you’re lying if you say they don’t}. Kids also use apps on tablets and phones, hear our conversations when we think they don’t, talk with other kids in social settings, and frankly have common sense {most of the time, I HOPE}. In all of this observation and interaction that takes place every single day, your kids are going to come across toys and electronics and games and other stuff that they decided they WANT or maybe NEED. A lot of it isn’t fantastic. It will be played with and either break or become forgotten.
BUT…
Every once in a while, they discover toys and activities and games that actually keep their interest, make them think for themselves, and forget about the video games. That’s where MindWare comes in my friends. I’m determined to surround my kids with things that will teach them problem solving and critical thinking and that can STILL be fun!
I found some awesome STEM games and activities from MindWare this year and asked Santa to make a stop there for my little thinkers. Some of the goodies I’m loving are…
Q-bitz Jr.: I opened up Q-bitz Jr., showed my husband, and he immediately challenged me to a few rounds. It’s FUN y’all! AND, it makes you stop and THINK. I’m so excited to be able to play this with my whole family. Q-bitz Jr. is a fun way to introduce your child to pattern matching, spatial reasoning, problem solving, visualization and more. The engaging play is easy to learn and mastering it will give your child the visual intelligence needed for future math and STEM success.
KEVA Brain Builders Junior: I can see my boys being all about the KEVA product line. I wanted to start out easy for them with the junior set. Plus the fact that it all stores nicely in this zip pouch case is perfect…no lost pieces! Brain Builders JUNIOR combines 20 KEVA planks with a set of stimulating puzzle cards. Perfect for even the youngest of builders—each card features a fun, recognizable 2-D object and the goal is to recreate the pattern into a 3D structure.
Dig It Up! Dinosaur Eggs: Show me a little kid that wouldn’t LOVE this under the Christmas tree! I mean, COME ON?! I want to dive right in and start excavating for dinosaurs too! Every egg in the carton contains a different dinosaur! Simply soak the 3″ clay egg in water and then carefully chisel away the shell to excavate the dinosaur inside. The set includes one dozen individually-wrapped clay eggs, each with a chiseling tool and instructions, and an excavation guidebook for learning more about your dino discoveries. It’s a perfect group or party activity! These would be a great stocking stuffer or even a fun activity to do while waiting around for delicious Christmas meals to be ready!
