It’s October 1st! I now officially give you permission to decorate your homes for Halloween. I’ve got little ones and don’t do the scary Halloween decor. I’m more of a happy pumpkin kind of gal, so these simple pumpkins are right up my Halloween decor alley.
To make your own Pumpkin Garland you’ll need:
cardstock {orange, green, and kraft}
mini clothespins
orange and natural twine
For my pumpkins, I found an image in Cricut Design Space that I liked. If you’ve got a different machine brand or don’t have a cutting machine at all, no worries! Find a pumpkin you like or just draw and cut your own. A little tracing and cutting never hurt anyone, right?! You could also be really adventurous and allow your kids to draw the pumpkins.
How sweet are those little pumpkins?!
Once my sweet pumpkins were ready to be hung, I cut a piece of orange twine and began clipping their happy faces to the twine with mini clothespins. I also tied single pieces of natural twine and some of the orange twine in between pumpkins to give it a shabby feel.
This pumpkin garland could also be a fun “after naptime” project for your little ones to help you out with while you decorate and talk about all the fun they will have trick-or-treating this year. Show them how to use the mini clothespins to attach the pumpkins to the twine. They will love the experience and remember how you let them help decorate. PLUS…it’s paper…they can’t hurt or break anything!
I’ve already moved my pumpkin garland around to a few different spots in our house. It’s just so easy and too cute not to relocate every couple of days!
What simple ways do you decorate for the holidays? Are you a Halloween decorator or do you typically stick to fall decor? I usually have a mix of both, but my Halloween decor is never scary!
Happy Halloween to you and happy decorating!
