Celebrate Friendship with M&M’s® Red Velvet

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching in less than a month now!  Have you thought about who you’d like to share some love with this year?  It’s a great time to let friends and family know that you care about them, too.  One way I LOVE to show my love for others is to make them a sweet treat and go out of my way to take it to them.  Those out of the blue moments and gifts are some of my most favorite things to do for others, especially those that I love.  This year, I was excited to find the new M&M’s® Red Velvet while I was out at my local Walmart and knew immediately that I wanted to add those to my famous chocolate popcorn treats to hand out this Valentine’s Day.

Before I get into the easiness that is the recipe and creating the treat bags, you’ll need to get your hands on the M&M’s® Red Velvet goodness…

 To make the popcorn, all you need is your favorite microwave popcorn, white chocolate chips, and a bag of M&M’s® Red Velvet.  I used 1 cup of chocolate chips per popped bag of popcorn for this recipe.  So…

1. Pop the popcorn.
2. Melt the chocolate {follow package instructions}.
3. Drizzle the melted chocolate on the popped corn and toss in as much M&M’s® Red Velvet as you’d like.  I used the entire bag!
4.  Spread out the mixture on parchment paper to dry.

While I was waiting for the chocolate popcorn to dry a bit, I made some super easy bag toppers to hand out to some of our friends in our neighborhood.  All I used for the toppers were some dollar store felt stickers, kraft paper, a black Sharpie, and a few pink card stock circles.

I assembled a few different styles and sayings, and by the time I was done crafting, my popcorn was ready to be put into the zip top baggies.

 My little guys and I are excited to pass these out to our friends at church in the coming weeks.  What special things do you like to do for others on Valentine’s Day?  I’d love to hear some of your traditions!
