Even though I don’t have kids in school and sports activities, there is just something about getting a meal on the table every single night that can be a bit daunting. Sometimes it’s the LAST thing I want to do at the end of a long day. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy cooking. I love to try new recipes. But, I don’t always have the time, energy, patience, ability, etc…
That’s why I’ve got a handful of go-to meals that I know I can make in a pinch because nine times out of ten, I’ve always got the ingredients on hand. One of my easy weeknight meals are tacos. Not just any tacos though, I make them with my homemade, gluten free taco seasoning.
I used to be all about the Old El Paso taco seasoning packet. It’s delicious and fast, but it’s LOADED with tons of preservatives. So, I concocted this easy mixture of spices and seasonings instead, and I think it tastes better. Now, if you find an ingredient on this list that you just don’t care for, that’s fine…omit it! You could add to the list or delete some all together. Find the blend that works best for your family and go with it!
Ingredients
- 1 T chili powder
- 1 t cumin
- 1 t paprika
- 1 t garlic powder
- 1 t oregano
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/2 t onion powder
- 1/4 t black pepper
- 1/4 t red pepper flakes {optional}
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients together and add to 1 lb of grass-fed beef for perfectly seasoned tacos!
Here’s another tip for the perfect taco. Instead of adding water to the beef, I add organic tomato sauce. It thickens the meat and spices up just right. I also add some black beans, usually about half a can per pound of meat. Delicious!
