In case you missed it last week, I was part of the A-Z Back to School series over at The Ribbon Retreat blog and shared this fabulous monogrammed library tote.
Since my littles aren’t quite ready to head to school yet, I decided to make my littlest his very own library tote bag because big brother has one for himself!
This project is brought to you by the letter H, for Henry {and our family’s love of all things Dr. Seuss}!
To make your own monogrammed tote, you’ll need:
fabric from The Ribbon Retreat {I like to get a bunch of different fat quarters}
ric rac, coordinating colors with your fabric choices
blank canvas tote
rotary cutter & cutting mat
Heavy Duty Heat & Bond
iron/ironing board
scissors
To get started I used my Cricut Explore™, to cut a lowercase letter “h” with my solid green fabric. To cut fabric with the Explore, you have to attach Heavy Duty Heat & Bond to the wrong side of the fabric {follow package instructions}.
It cut in one pass after switching the dial to the fabric setting, and looked fantastic!
Then all I had to do was iron the letter to my tote.
On the opposite site, I used my Cricut Explore once again to cut the word books out of some adorable “I Am Sam” fabric, also from the Ribbon Retreat.
I then used some other Dr. Seuss fabrics and my rotary cutter to cut some long rectangles to use as books. Before cutting all pieces, I had ironed on the Heavy Duty Heat & Bond once again.
After placing the books how I wanted them on the opposite side of the tote, I ironed everything into place.
And now, we’re ready for our weekly library trips!
And you can obviously apply any letter you’d like for your monogram!
Happy reading everyone!
