I’m so excited to share this week’s Teach Me Tuesday idea. I’ve had this one in my head for a while now and could hardly wait to share it with my little guy. It’s a great way to get him to recognize all the important people in his life, and I love to look through it with him before bedtime.
To make your own important book, you’ll need:
blank composition book
Mod Podge
foam brush
scrapbook paper
photos
corner rounding punch
To start, I cut each piece of scrapbook paper to size for the composition book pages, rounded the corners with my paper punch {one of my all time favorite crafting tools}, and used Mod Podge to attach them to the front and back covers and the first several pages.
Once I had about 10 pages covered, I cut out the book title with my Cricut and began to choose pictures that I wanted to include in my little guy’s Important Book.
So, what is an Important Book? To me, it’s a book filled with people and things that I want my child to know and recognize. To start this book, I decided that I wanted to focus first and foremost on his family. We are fortunate enough to live close to a lot of our family, but my side of the family is mostly up north. While he most definitely know and recognizes his grandparents and uncle that don’t live near him, I thought it would be nice to make sure to look at their pictures a few times a week as we’re going through his book together.
We’ve also used the book to lead our nightly prayers sometimes as we pray for the members of our family.
You’ll notice I haven’t labeled anything inside the book yet. Eventually I plan to label all the people and add on to the book to include important places and other things that I’d like for him to learn and remember.
