I don’t know about you, but since becoming a mom, I’ve found two things in my life to be quite surprising. First, the amount of milk I purchase on a weekly basis for just one little toddler astounds me {2 1/2 gallons per week people}, and second, I don’t think I’ve ever done this much laundry in my life!
I was recently introduced to Method Laundry Detergent, and was eager to give their Free & Clear version a try to tackle the multiple loads I wash each week.
I first tested out this new detergent on a load of white towels. A few even had some stains from my little guy playing in the dirt. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the detergent left the towels fluffy, fresh, and completely stain free.
And because I chose the Free & Clear variety, I’m not afraid to use it on my son’s clothes as he has some skin sensitivity to certain dyes and perfumes.
I’m super picky about the detergents I use for my family, and Method has definitely passed the test!
It may be hard to believe, but this tiny bottle of ultra-concentrated Method laundry detergent can do BIG things {especially because this tiny bottle cleans 50 loads of laundry}. That’s because the plant-based formula with SmartClean Technology® seeks out dirt and stains in a revolutionary new way to deliver beautifully clean clothes with just 1/4th the dose of the leading brand. Plus, its handy pump makes for easy, one-handed use. No mess. No waste. No aching biceps.
Some of laundry’s dirty little secrets…
The line inside your laundry detergent cap is meant to help you use the correct dose of detergent.
But why is it so hard to read?
Overdosing can create excess suds, which results in:
Residue on clothes
Odor in washing machine because of residues trapped in washer
Wet loads of laundry that haven’t been properly drained as extreme suds
can slow spinning cycle down
Leaking, particularly in front load washers
Longer washing cycles as the washer automatically adds extra rinses and
pauses to break down suds
I love that Method‘s design is a simple pump that you squirt directly into the washer! How easy is that?!

I love the idea of the pump – I haven’t tried Method before but that feature alone makes it worth a shot. I don’t have any issue with measuring, but since they make detergent so concentrated to reduce plastic, and the water on my high-efficiency washer won’t kick on until I’ve closed the lid, There is so much gross buildup in the cap and down the sides of the bottle, it’s impossible to rinse like I used to!

I didn’t know that about the other detergents and what may happen if you use too much. I probably always put too much. I just dump it into the cap and pour it in without paying much attention because I’m always in a hurry when it comes to laundry 🙂 I would love to try Method and see how it compares. Thanks for sharing, Meredith!
