Every time I walk through the fabric department at Hobby Lobby, the fleece seems to call my name. Since it’s always on sale, I seem to always tell myself to just get some next time. I finally gave in last week however, and purchased some Cars fleece to make my little guy one of the easiest blankets ever. I’m sure you’ve either made one yourself or seen one before.
To make a No-Sew Fleece Blanket, you’ll need…
2 yards fleece {choose two colors, 1 yd each}
sharp fabric scissors
tape measure
flat surface
*1 yard pieces make a great size blanket for a toddler or young child. You may want to consider 1 1/2 for adult sized blankets.
To start, lay out both pieces of fleece flat and trim any selvage or raw ends off.
Place the two pieces on top of each other, right sides facing out and make sure all edges line up.
Cut a 3″ square at each corner.
Using your tape measure, make fringe cuts that are 3″ long and 1 1/2″ wide. I worked on one side at a time, first cutting the entire side, then tying a double knot between both layers.
The beauty of this kind of blanket is that your cuts do not have to be absolutely perfect. Granted, they can’t be too out of control either, but there is some room for error here. After cutting and tying one side at a time, you’ll soon have a warm, cozy, blanket!
I made the blanket for my little guy while he took his nap one day last week. It was one of those rare days that his nap was extra long, and I was so anxious to see his face once I gave it to him.
Let’s just say it was a BIG hit! He loves to sleep with it now, almost as much as he loves those two bears {his “buddies”} in the picture.
Have you ever made a No-Sew Fleece Blanket before?
I’ll be linking up at these parties.

It was so nice meeting you today at the White Cloud event! I was racking my brain while there because I knew that I’d referenced your blog to some degree on my own site. I had! I featured you on my Easter infographic that highlighted simple Easter basket crafts. I had no clue at the time that you were in Atlanta. lol. Small world! I absolutely love your site 🙂

I love making these no sew fleece blankets. They are a perfect gift and can be made in any size. Match it with a pillow that you can make the same way. Thank you for typing up a wonderful tutorial! I have made a couple on my own but I always seems to wing it.

What kind of fleece do you prefer for no-sew blankets? I’m a beginner fleece user and have come across many fleece types, blizzard, anti-pill, glacier, winterfleece, etc. Do you find your choice of fleece pills over time? Is it best to keep front and back fleece pieces the same type of fleece?
