This may just be the once-upon-a-time math teacher in me, but I always think it’s fun to celebrate “Pi Day”. What’s Pi Day you ask? Well, not only does it happen to be my little brother’s birthday {hi, Nick}, it’s 3.14, you know, that fun number that you probably used a ton in math class but not so much anymore? So technically, Pi Day isn’t until tomorrow!

When I taught 5th grade, I had my kids try to memorize as much of the number as they could for fun, and I’m not kidding when I say that two of them actually memorized it up to that zero! Can you believe it?!
To celebrate Pi Day this year, I thought it would be fun to grab a delicious Marie Callender’s frozen pie for our Pi Day dessert!
I chose Marie Callender’s Dutch Apple Pie since I’ve always been a sucker for apple pies. I was pleased to find out that they make it with 100% fresh Fuji Apples. The best part of the entire pie would definitely have to be the cinnamon, sugar yummy crumb topping. Matched with those fresh Fuji apples and the rich, flaky crust, it was fantastic!
Here are some fun facts to discuss with your family while you’re celebrating Pi Day with Marie Callender’s frozen pies…
Pi (π) is the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter.
Pi is a constant number, meaning that for all circles of any size, Pi will be the same.
Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point.
Pi is both an irrational and a transcendental number meaning it will continue infinitely without repetition or pattern. {WOW}
The number 1 occurs 10,137 times in Pi’s first 100,000 digits!
The Egyptians were the first to find a value for Pi.
Pretty interesting stuff, if you ask me! I bet your kiddos will get a kick out of these Pi Day facts, and especially if you share them over a delicious Marie Callender’s pie.
{Evidence of a delicious piece of pie…I forgot to take a picture until I was almost done with my piece!}

I love celebrating Pi Day, we usually get a slice of pie. This year I made a Pi themed caramel banana pie for my husband and I to celebrate with (a couple days early).
