On most days here it’s still reaching almost 90 degrees. I love Fall and everything, but it just isn’t time to go all out and decorate with pumpkins, colored leaves, and mums (I wish it was, but it’s just not people).
I did want to change our red, white, and blue summer wreath though.
Since college football just started again, I decided to show some school spirit for my Michigan State Spartans with a little green and white! For those of you that care they are 2-0 right now!!
I picked up a few new items to add to my grapevine wreath (that I’ve luckily just been able to change out each season so far this year).
Winter Wreath * Spring Wreath * Summer Wreath
For my {school spirit wreath} I added:
fresh wooden letters for my team
a wooden football (already painted when purchased)
green and white polka dot ribbon
new floral stems (greenery and white roses)
some green and white paint for the letters
After coupons, my total came to about $15.
When there is painting involved in a project, it’s always the first thing I do. That way it can dry while I work.
I just used a foam brush and painted each letter solid green.
While the paint dried, I headed outside to take the current wreath items down and put up the new flower stems.
I wanted the wooden letters to go straight across the middle of the wreath. To give them something to stick to, I covered a wooden skewer with the green and while polka dot ribbon and stuck it across the center of the wreath. You’ll also notice that I turned the wreath on it’s side (it reminds me of a football this way).
After the green paint had dried, I decided to add some white polka dots to the letters as well. I used the end of a wooden skewer dipped in white paint to achieve that look. It was super simple and took no time at all!
After a bit of drying time (maybe 20 minutes). It was time to attach the letters to the covered skewer.
I also decided to add some folded ribbon pieces around the wreath to give it some more color. I used a 6 inch piece, folded in half and added a dab of hot glue to attach them to the wreath in random spots.
Soon, I had this beaut…
This weekend my Spartans take on the Fighting Irish!
Go GREEN!!
I’m linking up at these fantastic parties!

I love this wreath. My oldest school colors are teal and pink. they are the fighting artichokes. No fooling. Just thought how cute that would be on a wreath! Cute idea. Now if it could just magically appear on my door.
I’m your new follower and look forward to looking around!
