There is a fun giveaway at the end of this post! Make sure to enter to win a $10 Jo Ann’s gift card and other fun prizes.
Here’s what I’ve be pinning this week…
I’m all about red, white, and blue lately, and I love this Star and Stripes Plaque from Jill at Two Yellow Birds Decor. The simplicity of it is awesome and I think you could use it in so many different areas around the house! I might just have to make a couple to celebrate this 4th of July.

I’m all about sewing projects lately, and I’ve definitely got way more ideas and projects floating around in my head than I need to, but these are so stinkin’ cute. I wish I had a friend that was getting married soon, so I could make these for a shower gift.

This may seem silly, but I think cutting melon (of any kind) is both tedious and difficult. Jessica at Mom 4 Real has solved the melon cutting crisis of America. She explains how to pick the perfect melon and then provides detailed pictures on how to slice it perfectly. Brilliant!

Once a teacher, always a teacher. I think kids need to be excited about reading, starting at a very young age. What better way to get your kids pumped about a little reading time each day this summer than by using a summer reading log? Now, my little guy isn’t ready for his own reading log yet, but we definitely read a couple books each day. He’s really starting to actually pay attention to the books, which tells me that I’ve got to keep it up!

I’m all about simple, inexpensive, crafts that take under 5 minutes to complete. These paperclips would be a perfect addition to a greeting card, a book, a journal…the possibilities are endless!

My favorite birthday memory is that every year my dad would make the most amazing cake for me. Whatever my interest was that year, he would design it and it would be awesome. And he’d always incorporate coconut since it’s my fave! 🙂

My sister and I were only 1 year, five days apart, so every year we celebrated our birthdays together. Those were my favorite birthdays. When she moved away after she got married, we sure did miss those birthdays together.

My fondest childhood birthday memory would probably be my roller skating party in 4th grade (I know I am showing my age with this one!!). I am a winter baby, so many of my parties got cancelled due to snow, and I was looking forward to having this one at the roller rink and it came off without a hitch! I can still remember how happy I was. Funny the things that make you happy when you are little. . .

My favorite birthday memory is when my mom did a treasure hunt throughout my house and yard. I thought it was the greatest thing! I ended up in the shower where there was a big surprise…although I can’t remember what it was!! HAHA!!

Well I’m a follower on everything, but now Linky too! I am also tweeting about your giveaway! Good luck! My fondest memory from childhood is one I just relived with my boys this weekend unintentionally! It’s simple–my dad used to take me to get an ice cream cone at Thrifty’s (a drug store chain in the west). We recently moved to a neighborhood that has a Thrifty (now it’s a Rite Aid) in it and his past Saturday night I decided to stop there to get a cone for the boys. As I was walking out of the store, it hit me! My dad used to do this with me weekly like 30 years ago and it was my favorite daddy and me time! So appropriate because I got to tell my dad the story on Father’s Day Sunday:) Sorry that was a long one! Thanks for the giveaway friend! XO, Barbara

When I was a kid I would always ask for my mom to make me a pumpkin pie instead of a cake. Pumpkin pie is my all time favorite desert and you only get to have it once of twice a year (Thanksgiving and Christmas). She was so nice she made it almost every year.:)

Fondest birthday memory – while I was out with friends, my whole family TP’d my bedroom. They used at least 10 rolls of TP and covered it from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. It was a mess to clean up, but we all laughed as we walked over and under it.
